The tradition of painting hard-boiled eggs during springtime pre-dates Christianity. And nothing says Easter quite like a good old-fashioned egg hunt! This weekend let The Rapid get you to a number of family-friendly Easter events throughout the Grand Rapids area.
Don’t miss one of the largest Easter egg hunts in Grand Rapids! On Saturday, March 26 more than 2,500 children will hunt for eggs! Ride Route 12 to this free event in the John Ball Area Neighborhood. This free event is from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Donations are welcome!
Ride with us to the Grand Rapids Public Museum on March 26 to learn about fashion, customs and culture from the Civil War Era into the 20th Century and explore the Museum’s Education Collection of vintage clothing. The programs will begin in the Streets of Old Grand Rapids exhibition, which will transport guests back in time to the Victorian era. The program will continue on the Museum’s second floor where guests can indulge in sweet treats and tea. Tickets are $15 for non-members and $13 for members.
On Saturday, March 26 at 11:00 a.m. head to Walker Ice & Fitness Center to hunt for eggs. Children ages two through eight can hunt for wrapped candy and eggs that can be redeemed for prizes. The Easter Bunny will also be available for photos.

On Easter Sunday, bring your children to hunt for more than 1,000 eggs hidden throughout the Market Hall. These eggs will be filled with candy and a few select “golden” eggs will be filled with assorted Market gift cards from a variety of vendors or to the Market itself! The egg hunt begins at 10:00 a.m., however, there will be events throughout the day. Plan to be there early to ensure you get to participate in the egg hunt. There will also be a hula hoop performance and coloring in the greenhouse.
