Valentine’s Day is almost here! Why not surprise your sweetheart with a romantic date that you can get to via a cozy and convenient bus? We’ve got the perfect list of things to do around Grand Rapids in the days leading up to and on Valentine’s Day.

Head to the Downtown Market to get things heated up with your sweetie. Kick back and relax with your partner while the wonderful folks at Downtown Marker make your evening something special with small plate demonstrations, an effervescent cocktail and some hands-on cooking. You’ll even have the opportunity to learn to master En Papillote (cooking in parchment paper) and add finishing touches to a sweet dessert.

Grown-up Playdate

Treat your Valentine to a special night of play at the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum 2nd annual Grown-up Playdate. Play laser tag, participate in a building-wide scavenger hunt, enjoy local craft beers, wines, ciders and pizza offerings from local Grand Rapids restaurants. Your night of fun will benefit the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum programs and exhibits.

Fish Fry 2016

Celebrate the first Friday of Lent and Valentine’s Day weekend with your true love or just the friends you love the most. Ride Route 7 to enjoy the Lenten Fish Fry that is open to the community at the Neal E. Fonger, American Legion Post 179.

The fry will take place Friday, Feb. 12 from 5:00 p.m.7:00 p.m. Be sure to come hungry and with $9.00.

Dangerous Liaisons

Take your love to the ballet! Grand Rapids Ballet will be featuring a decadent story of French revenge and manipulation that sparked a revolution. A scheming widow and her aristocratic lover play high-stakes games of passion and treacherous betrayal. Worldrenowned choreographer Annabelle Lopez-Ochoa returns to Grand Rapids Ballet for the U.S. premiere of this romantic tale set in Baroque France.

Valent-ICE

Valent-ICE is an annual festival celebrating winter and love in downtown Grand Rapids. The event’s diverse array of activities take place Friday, Feb. 12 through Sunday, Feb. 14. Be sure to check out the live ice carving, a walking tour of whimsical ice art, ice skating and other snowy seasonal fun.
